The Club House of the "Mansión Xanadú" Golf Course, located on the cliffs of San Bernardino, was designed by the architects Covarrocas and Govantes in July 1927. Precious woods were specially brought from Santiago de Cuba for ceilings, rails and columns, while that the floors and bathrooms were made in Cuban, Italian and Spanish marble. The actual construction was entrusted to the Frederick Sneard Corporation at a cost of $1,300,000 and was completed on December 30, 1930. The Xanadu Mansion in Varadero, now a hotel, is a marvel of Cuban architecture. It used to be a beach house owned by millionaire Mr. Irenee Dupont. Located next to the Varadero Golf Club, it is one of the best places to visit in Varadero.
The majestic structure that I now encourage you to visit was designed in July 1929 by prominent Cuban architects; Govantes and Cabarrocas, who also designed the building for the José Martí National Library of Cuba in Havana and other residences on the Hicacos peninsula.
The "Xanadú" Mansion is the Club House of the Varadero Golf Club. This magical place has been restored strictly respecting its original construction in 1930, a fact that makes it exceptional. It has: Exclusive "Xanadú Mansion" Accommodation with 8 luxury rooms: 6 doubles and 2 singles, three floors, ground floor: desk, lobby, restaurant, 2nd floor: rooms, 3rd floor: Casa Panorámica Bar Casa Blanca, basement: cellar , Restaurant "Xanadú" with a la carte service from noon to 10:30 pm, the panoramic bar "Casa Blanca" offers international cocktails and live music, banquet service for incentive groups, weddings and birthdays, facilities and services for meetings and the Xanadú Beach Club.
The emblematic and imposing Xanadú Mansion or Dupont House, as it is also known, is one of the most beautiful icons of Varadero, a place full of wonders and stories, built almost a century ago on the Peñón San Bernardino, the highest point in the tourist Town, very close to the beautiful "Playa Las Américas". La Casa Dupont is today a luxurious hotel with eight luxurious rooms, a magnificent restaurant and an elegant panoramic bar. The rooms still have some of the original furniture. The house exhibits some of the original objects and furniture and you can feel the elegance and refinement of the golden age of Dupont.
